I've attended GCC about 8 times. I was looking for something similar to the teaching, freedom to use spiritual gifts as wells as a collection of people that are hungry for presence based Christianity that doesn't sacrifice the intellectual truths and depth of the word you'd find at Bethel Redding, CA. I found it. This church is probably the best church I've ever attended and if I lived closer, I'd always go there. I'm a big fan of Pastor Bill Johnson out of Redding, CA. In my personal experience, Ian Carol (who delivers the bulk of the sermons) has the intellectual depth and level of revelation on par with Bill Johnson. He is passionate, funny, comfortable taking risks and will challenge assumptions. His wit is top notch. I love that he doesn't repeat himself and he states things in a way where they stick. I've listened to hundreds of pastors over the years, for me Ian is at the top of my list. I am an intellectual type, but also a passionate/risk taker that loves the teachings coming out of Bethel Redding. If you find yourself to be somewhat similar, I think you'll love the church.
Great prophetic healing anointing and honor culture like Bethel! The people show a lot of love!!! Jesus style love!!
The facilities are nice, the leadership team appears to be dedicated to their call. The worship is very passionate. Sometimes their passion can cause things to go long/late or get a little amped up, but I'd rather have a church that you have to pull back on occasion than have to "manufacture" hunger for the presence. They go after it and respect that. They pursue a tight community and equipping the saints. This is not passive, pew fodder Christianity. If your desire is to go to church, shake a few hands, listen to a pleasant message that will give a slight challenge here or there, never feel too uncomfortable/challenged, this is NOT for you. If you put Christ above all else, and your heart and mind are kingdom focused, and you are ready for the supernatural experiences that the Holy Spirit brings, you'll love it.
